"Universal Black" engine paint available in a rattlecan at places like Pep Boys and such matches what the Midnight specials had, and holds up to the heat on the engine.

I like the look with black engine, but the edges of the fins polished . . . always meant to do that to my Midnight, but it got bought by my friend . . . it'll be his elbow grease if it gets done.

    My (former) Midnight . . .

I painted the engine of my "F" several years ago. I used PJ1 Engine Case paint. It has held up very well.

        Hey,
I repainted my 79 xs special and frame and driveshaft and gear casing. I used emory cloth to sand the fins and the valve covers. The PO hardly believed it was "his old bike '.
