Isn't it printed in the owners manual also? If someone has one handy they might take a look.

      Owner's manual...

Looked in the owner's manual that came with the bike. No mention of emissions stuff...

Once I get home from NM, I'll take a pic of "daily ride" and send it to you. I don't remember them going off about the sticker, but it was on the bike.
You should have a picture Sunday afternoon.

          Looks like this...

I found this on E-bay, clearly shows the sticker in question.

I got an appointment to see the CHP on 12-28-06

They don't seem to check frame numbers here in TN.

Bought my 400 on Ebay from a guy in IN, had it titled and registered here in minutes, with no inspection, EPA or otherwise. I did have a clean title from IN though. Spent longer waiting in line than I did to get the title mailed to me, it seemed.

My 11 had a TN title, but noone ever checked it when I changed the title to my name.

I'm hoping to never have to go through the process of registering an untitled bike. Didn't even bother to get my (untitled) parts bike titled, as it was destined for dismantling.

Wow, in this part of Michigan I can drive up to get my plate renewed with a 700 cubic inch turbo whatcha-ma-banger in a 2006 honda and that's it, no questions.

I see guys driving around on the street in the summer in cars with a 5000 RPM stall and a giant huffer sticking out of the hood with a couple carbs on top.

I'm not exactly sure why we get away with it, but I'm not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth.

FWIW, most people end up driving newer cars that are unmodified anyhow.

Transferring an untitled bike from another state can be a real PITA no matter where you are. I bought the 81 with no paper and it took me 6 months to get a clear NC title. Lots of letter writing and trips to the DMV in Virginia. The F was last titled in GA in 1990. I have an old registration slip but no title. The PO is deceased. Not even going to try on this one.

                  title registration for calif.

Hi, I have to agree with Diverray, I have had no problem in calif. with several old bikes. I go to the dmv. get the paperwork to fill out on the bike to get registered. Go to the Highway Patrol check site so they can verify it wasnt swiped. By the way their records only go back 10 years in the computer system,so this bike should be no problem. Within twenty minutes I am out the door and the new title is sent within two weeks. The usual calif. fees are around 60.00 which includes the registration. Remember to put a nice low price on what you bought it for,,hint, hint, because they will charge you sales tax,,so a bike of 10.00 cost is a lot cheaper than the "real price paid." Good luck, keep it simple, actually it is easier without a title than with in calif. Just have, get, make up a bill of sale and submit to the dmv, and you should be good to go. Any other questions just pm me.......Mike in san diego,,,xj1100

If someone here in CA were to look on the goosneck left side, I think, and maybe take a closeup of that label and send it to me....... maybe could solve some of the issues. That Emissions label is what they need. Being plastic, it didn't survive the powdercoating heat.
Did you get the registration dilemma resolved? I checked my 79F, and it has 2 seperate stickers - sorry, I couldn't get any pics.

Did you look inside the left side cover? My 79sf has it there as well but they may want it frame mounted, who knows when you'r dealing with red tape people.

                        Peice 'o cake...

I guess I was over reacting. CHP asked for the VIN when I called for an appointment and when I got there today, they had already the complete history in hand and was ready to sign off. Officer Smith was taken aback by the condition of Pathfinder. He was impressed to say the least.

PS He said there were a lot of dummies working for the DMV
