      "I was gonna say..."

I was gonna say how great that bike looks, till I studied the pictures some more and noticed how clean your garage is. That is wrong... just wrong!.

"Hey, Mr. Clean Garage... Try pulling the rest of the bird's head out of the Tach Housing before you come whinning to me."

          prom,

noticed how clean your garage is. That is wrong... just wrong!.

lol...I can be a little over clean in the garage aspect i know....lol....I have a bad habit of working in the garage when i get home before changing out of my work clothes....wife gets anoyed having to wash oil from them so i figured i could get away with it if i don't get them dirty by keeping the garage floor clean...

Try pulling the rest of the bird's head out of the Tach Housing
was thinking my tach needle looked a bit like a beak from a sparrow.....thanks.

            The tool box matches too!....lol...

the tank has gold flames on it in a gold foil type paint.....looks better from the side but also that pics a bit blurry, I cropped a bigger pic that had heaps of other bikes in it.....need some more batteries for the camera then i'll post a better one...

            Cheers!

              btw

              ideas bout' testing the tacho'
Three wires to tack. (white, brown and black)

White from generator to tack, should have 5 to 7 volts AC w/engine running.
(check between white and black wires)

Brown to black wire should show battery voltage (DC)

Yamaha manual recommends that if voltages chek out OK (no opens/bad connections) replace tack

I'd take it apart and look for what got knocked loose.
(Actually I'd just put one on from my parts shelf and think about fixing it later)

Lovely work, like the rear indicators. I can't see in the pics but are you running an oil cooler?

Third pic looks like an oil cooler not yet mounted.

Looks good. Always good to see trash turned to treasure.

Yep still has the oil cooler up front its hard to see it cause the tool bag is on the front forks.....was thinking of going to a polished alu one but then never got around to it.....which leads me to another question...does anyone know if it is ok to remove it and loop the oil lines?.....does it affect the engine that much?......

                      Cheers!

ps Hey Dan...cool NSW......slowly finding more people in OZ. anyone here from Queensland?

Well oil coolers are needed here in Oz because of the warmer tempreatures but many people in the States dispense with them. I only ask because your exhaust system looks like one of those that wont fit if you have the oil cooler. I've put on a four into two that I found on ebay. It's for a Special, not the standard that I own but I made it fit with a bit of gerry rigging. It's not perfect but it's as old as my bike so that's pretty good.

What sort of exhaust system do you have on it?

For normal riding in normal temperatures you do not need the oil cooler. When you want to be absolutely sure mount an oil temp gauge.
Removing the oil cooler is easy: unscrew the oil filter, unscrew the base plate including the oil lines and cooler, screw the oil filter back on with its own bolt.

The exhaust has "Cartel 4-2" stamped on the collector, i got them from a shop here on the coast 2nd hand, but the mufflers i got new they are "Flowmaster" and have a honeycomb type baffel that can be adjusted to increase/decrease backpressure (and noise...lol ), the oil cooler lines run up each side of the frame between the headers of 1 & 2 and 3 & 4.(you can see it on the last pic)

I am thinking of changing it again to 4-4 and run two pipes each side for something different......have a lead on a good custom shop to make me a wild looking set....

Removing the oil cooler is easy
I think i might look into removing the cooler if it is that easy and see how things go, if i decide to run without it i'll most likely install a small oil temp gauge as suggested.
