  • Looking for exhaust valve

hey there, anyone have an extra exhaust valve for a 79Sf? Or where I might be able to get one? Thanks

Also, when I get a new valve, do I need to lap it into the old seat? And if I lap the other valves while I'm at it, is there anything I need to do those first few miles to make them seat properly? Thanks again.

Bike Bandit has them, but rather pricey!

    2: VALVE,EXHAUST 7367-001 $48.62

Andreas Weiss quite often has used parts, try contacting him.

As for the valves, there isn't really any break in after lapping them. Once the sealing surfaces are lapped, they are smoothed and matched to each other, and will seal just fine. Just be sure to remove all of the lapping compound before putting it together. Just will need to check your clearances afterwards.

Like T.C. said. And may want to recheck the clearances after about 500/600 miles, too
I'm sure you know... after doing the valves, turn the head on it's side, fill the intake/exhaust ports with fuel and check to see that the valves don't leak.

Would an 80 MNS have the same size valves as the 79 F? I know that someone was saying that the later models had larger diameter valves, but I don't remember which years they were refering to. I have a head from an 80 MNS (LG) with a few good valves in it, PO left out one spark plug and ruined one cylinder with rust.
