    ok here is a dunm ? there are little rubber pieces in the fins of my engine what are they does anyone have them and do i need them? they look really bad they have a mark #2h7 ?

    They are vibration dampeners, installed by the factory. I don't think it'll hurt anything to remove them, as my bike has never had them in the 15 years I have owned it.

      If I remember right this has come up before and it was said that they were an EPA thing for reducing the noise...??

        There 'posta cut down on the "noise" the fins make as the vibrate. I don't think it gonna make much difference on a 4 stroke, inline 4. All my ring-a-dings had em but I could tell no difference in noise when thay all eventually fell out.

        They coulda been one of those EPA things, ya know, 45db at 15 ft at 45mph or some other silly requirement those guys made Yamaha come up with.
