  • 4RO TCI Repair

    How does one get the circuit board out of the housing withouut breaking it? I took out all of the screws and the transister end came loose. The connector end is still stuck, didn't want to pry on it for fear of cracking the board. What is the secret. thanks

    I believe you need to desolder it to remove the board. Randy knows for sure, and I'm sure he will check in on this.

      Yes. The pins have to be desoldered to remove the board.

        ExcessiveBiker;

        Chances are that just re-soldering those pins will correct your problem, 90% of TCI problems are cold solder joints on those pins.

          Well, fellas, unsoldering and re- turned out to be a non problem. I have many details on my trouble shooting path and will post them when I get them all written out. Those chips in the 81 4RO are supposedly available commercially.
          I will try to find the source and pricing. Bottom line is, my 81 SH rolls without any ignition glitches. Has anyone done the 750 final drive switch and put some miles on it?
          Thanks,
