  • spoke rims on an XS???

Been giving some thought to turning my 1100 into a cafe racer of sorts. Being that there doesn't seem to be too many XS1100 cafe racers floating around to take cues from I have some work to do. My biggest question right now is if there are any spoke rims that will bolt up to the XS with little or no modification. Just tossing some ideas around.

    Thanks,

    Camron

I would look at the XS650's, they have the same size wheels, 19 front and 16 rear(at least the '80 E/std). One problem with the rear though, is that the wire spoked wheels use DRUM brakes, they put the Discs on the Solid Aluminum Mags they came out with later! Also, not sure if the 6 bolt holes that are used for the rear sprocket will match up with the mounting holes for the shaft drive hub and such!?

    Good Luck!

The front is going to be easy but getting a hub to mate up to the shaft drive is going to take some work. I'd bet there isn't a way to do this with out some custom machine work or maybe even custom building a new rear hub.

If you're serious about this, start with an early Goldwing rear wheel. It's likely going to take the least amount of modification to work.

        gx750

let me know if you find one. These are very RARE!!!!!! and they will bolt right up. I say that because they are the predecessors to the xs750
