  • XJ/XS caliper compatibility?

Does anyone have any idea if the
XS calipers will fit on an XJ?

    Thanks,

    Dave

They don't. Standards, Specials, and XJ's all have different calipers.

Well, if you took the forks, triple clamps and fender from the special too, then the calipers would fit.

Dangit. XJ calipers seem to be hard
to find. I did find NOS for $325!!!!!!
Old ones in need of a kit are $80
or more at the local salvage yards.
      (IF you can find one.)

Are there any other Yamahas that use
the same calipers??? I have a parts manual for my bike, but not for any others. I could compare numbers if
I had some to compare to.

      Thanks,

      Dave

you may want to try the smaller size XJ's for the same part# calipers. I know Xs1100s, xs850s and xs750s all use the same front calipers. Maybe they used the same calipers you need on other XJ's.

Good idea Bill, especially the larger Maxims. Dave, let us know what you find out regarding that.

Well, I got the part numbers of all of the
Maxim calipers and they are similar but
not the same. I guess I'll keep watching
            ebay.

It's hard to believe Yamaha would
            use so many non-interchangeable parts.
            Doesn't seem cost-effective.

            Thanks,
