During WWII a lot of the American armored vehicles had various inds of aircraft radials. The were a good fit because of their light weight and compact size, lack of a vulnerable water cooling system, good power to weight ratio, and were available in large numbers. As the war went the competition with the aircraft industry caused some very interesting engines to be designed and used. The 2 most interesting were 5 Dodge truck engines grafted together in a "W" configuration, and a combination of 2 Cadilac V8's driving thru an auto tranny. Go Figure, both of these seeming bad ideas worked very well. So if has pistons you can probally figure a way to use in a vehicle.78E ... Gone but not forgotten

When you revved that thing up, it would surely roll over. Those engines have the power to torque roll an aircraft right into the ground. The next one I want to see is a R-2800 on there. Now that would be cool.United States Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, NY
