  • A fuse and accessory question

I have looked around on the threads to try not to ask redundant questions.... but... here I go!

On my XJ1100 I have replaced the fusebox with the stab style. I replaced the 3 fuses in the box with 20a fuses (that is what was in there) I want to wire some additional front lights and currently have a radar detector added. (Plus I may want add something else in the future. Ie: lighter plug for emergency cell phone charge, etc.)

I have my radar detector added by pinning the hot wire onto the non-power side of one of the fuses that is hot when the bike is on. (as opposed to wiring to the always hot accessory screws)

I know this is not the best way to do it. I want to install another fuse that is fed when the bike is on. Where would be the best place to get the power??

And why do I only have 3 fuses in the box when I read other threads about having 5-6?

    Thanks!!!

    Jimbo,

    Pop your main fuse.

    Turn key on.

Test for juice, the leg that has juice is the one you should tap your new circuit into.
