      The "Agelss Rocket"

I might have called my XS the Ageless Rocket, too, Dick, but in my household that name was already taken.....

As a result of a comment a friend made. People don't expect old ratty looking bikes like mine to haul like that.

                  The Flying Pumpkin

I painted my sons' Hondas the nice bright yellow they asked for. Then I thought "I'd like that colour for my rig" But between the time the Hondas hit the street and when I contemplated repainting my XS11 & sidecar, every bike shop around had a new model in (you guessed it) bright yellow. So my choice changed. I went to the auto paint store and asked for orange paint "like the Astro towtrucks are painted" "We have that colour in stock, Sir" So on it went, gas tank (was primer & bodyfiller), sidecovers (leftside was burgundy, rightside was blue) and the top of the sidecar body (was faded silver). "Great" says my wife "Now I'm riding in a pumpkin." Hence the name.

The Fire Dragon got its name the night that the octy diaghram split and she sucked in a massive amount of raw fuel, it went from smoking to belching out streams of fire behind her from the hot exhaust. Truly impressive according to the witnesses. Me, I was four miles from home and headed there fast to stay out in front of the flames, it worked, I got home and put out the rest of the fire with a fire extinquisher (FAST). Removed the octy the next morning and have not missed it since. I have no idea how fast I was going (and don't want to know), my usual fear at night around here is about the road ticks (deer) but I could not see even one of them dumb buggars running out in front of what I was riding at the time.
One of the witnesses lives about two miles down the road from me and descibed the incident as having heard and seen a screaming, flaming dragon come out of the night, scream past, and disappear into the darkness. I never did explain to him that the screaming sound he had heard had nothing to do with the bike.

At any rate, she has been the "Fire Dragon" ever since. My son put the addition on the fairing lowers, sorry about the looks of the bike in this picture but it was taken in the spring after it sat all winter in a buddys shed and it was still dusty before its spring bath.

If there are more than three bolts holding it on there, it is most likely a very important part!
