  • Rear Turn Signals Question

My '79 XS Special has hard bags added. The rear signals light as running lights(and blink). Is this as designed, or just PO'd? Also the lenses are red, not yellow. Mostly concerned with the power budget.
    Just askin, that's all.

are the rear signal still in original position, or are they on the bags?

If in original position, PO, or somebody before you has done some work. Put in some LED's (I think you'll have to change your front blinkers, also, and an electric flasher unit.

If light are on the bags, you could do the same thing with LED's.

As Yamaniac said, the PO did some Mods, the rear lenses NEED to be RED if they are going to be lit all the time, only Turn signals can be yellow in the rear, but running/turn signals are RED.

Many years ago I had added an extra set of tail running/brake lights trying to increase visibility, standard 1157 bulbs, shortly after that my Reg/Rect fried, not sure if it was related, but I didn't take any chances, removed the extra lights. Then after I resurrected my bike, I went to LED's, have plenty of power now, but I also have Geezer's heavy duty Reg/Rect as well!
