    I'd like a bit more powerful headlight on my 78e. does anyone know how many watts you can run through the headlight switch before it will go ka-put?

    right now, im running a pair of car style driving lights as headllights in my "custom" fainring (an old welding helmet with front cut out to recieve lights (i get the strangest looks ) )

    anyways... i can get a 100 watt bulb to replace the 50 watt thats in it, but need to know if i should go through the hassle of wiring in a relay... anyone know?

    btw-- there is no longer a RLU on the bike--i wired around it

    Picture, man, we wanna see!

    Even with RLU out of the loop, the headlight would still normally get juice thru the headlight relay. The switch cannot handle much current, not even the 55/60 stocker. You didn't eliminate the relay too, and wire the headlight thru the switch, did you? Cuz it will melt eventually.

    Lots of folks run 80/100 halogens with no ill effects (I'm one of them).

      hmmmm..... headlight relay, huh? my guess would be i cut that out of the loop too....

      i guess im goin to wire one in or rewire the old one--thanks
