          Well DJ,

TELL US what was wrong, was it the main switch or what, inquiring minds like to know.....and we have running side bets as to what the problem was!!

            Hey TC,

Here is the earlier post:Update on my problems,

Finally the weather broke and I was able to get into the wiring. Found the pig tail from the ignition switch to have a burnt contact that melteed part of the pigtail. I was able to center the contact and plugged everything back together. IT WORKED, pulled the pigtail apart and cleaned it. Now I can shut the bike off with the ignition switch, but need to change the battery.
Found one thing while tinkering with the pigtail, the pigtail itself gets very warm when the bike is running, hmmmm, went to the fuse box and found that 2 of my fuses had been swapped out and 20A fuses in there place. I need to change these, has anyone changed out their fuse box for a new one that takes the small bladed fuses?

Thanks for all the help, DJ

P.S. Yes, temp fix need to find a place and pull the fairing and rewire the pigtail.

The other Gremlins are the fuse panel, rear trunk lights, and this darn wiring for the trailer hitch. I am getting rid of the hitch, anyone want it?

              Hey DJ,

Well, DUH, I guess I should have gone back to page 1, didn't remember having read your discovery, but then I can't holler at you too much for not having read Geezer's reply about many folks having replaced their fuseblocks!

SeeThis Tech Tip , one of several in that section on replacing the fuseblock, and if you'll scroll down, you'll see the one that I re-sell to folks, since it's a $25.00 minimum order from the supplier, I only add a few bucks to cover cost of their shipping to me, and then my turn around to others, paypal fees, but at $7.00 ea, still a bargain compared to the AUTO stores, and the quality is top notch!

                Thanks TC,
I have gotten many tips and answers to questions on here. I just keep forgetting that I asked them before....LOL

Getting old is hell, but what is worse is retiring from the military, getting forgetful and having to start all over in the world, that is fun!!!!!

You have high resistance at some connections or in the ignition switch. Clean and grease all the terminals.

Take the screws out of the bottom of the ignition switch and if the plate with the contacts is cracked, it's time for a new switch. On the other had if it's just a bit burnt, you can file it down then clean the switch contacts.
