I used to have a crash bar on my old Honda. What are you guys using on the XS11s? The wife and I layed ours down today and I got caught underneath the bike. I need a crash bar so that doesn't happen again. Fortunately she was strong enough to lift it off of my foot. God is it sore. Ankle to the knee got twisted really bad. Anyway, I figure the bars will give me the extra room in case it happens again.

Crash bars/case savers usually don't help your legs/feet in an accident. They do work at keeping the alternator and timeing covers from getting scratched if the bike falls over at slow/no speed.
Yes, I do have them on both my XS's. 2 point on the E and 3 point on the LG.Pat Kelly

crash bars???
Would be mandated by government if could be proved to be effective...
Do help preserving engine, sometimes.......
May help your leg/foot but would not count on it, not what manufacturers made em for...
Lucky for me, last time bike went down on a left hand turn I was wearing steel toed boots. While ankle to knee still got some abuse, would have ground em down some between bike and pavement without boot...
mro
btw
like/use the little 3 point

Does anyone know where to get them, or do I have to fabricate my own?
My old one on the other bike was great. Never had to use it but it was strong and this time I only needed about 3 inches clearance.1979 XS1100F (runnin the wheels off it)

This is what most XS1100's have for crash bars. I have seen the large loop bars
(generic photo)
but not very often. XS750's use the loop type, not sure how difficult to adaptPat Kelly

Yes, I knew abou tthe case guards. They would not have been very effective in this case. The larger bar would have been perfect. I will check into the 750. Otherwise, I get to use my pipe bender.1979 XS1100F (runnin the wheels off it)

Let me look in my "pile-o-parts" I may have a 750 loop sitting around. All my 750's are gone, just 1100's at my house now.Pat Kelly

about those "full loope" bars
I had “full loops” on my Special when I bought it. I really like the style, plus they are really handy for mounting forward pegs. Trouble is, I got knocked off my bike by a cage. It pulled out of a side street to make a right-hand turn. He sideswiped me, and when the #@%&! finally woke up and realized he was running into me he slammed on his brakes: the left corner of his bumper hooked my right-hand roll bar and pulled the bar into my cylinder head, breaking three cooling fins.
Did it protect my leg? Don’t know, but it did damage my bike.
The miscreant’s insurance co. figured my bike was totaled and paid me $1200 for it. It just ticked over to 80,000 miles on the recent Tahoe Rally and is running like a top.
Go to J.C.Whitnet.com: they have “full loope” bars for XS11’s there.

My recently re-built, hopped up '79 Special caught fire and burned everything from the top of the engine up: gas tank, wiring, seat, & melted my windshield all over the front of the bike. Just bought a 1980 Special that has been non oped for 9 years. My Skoot will rise from the ashes and be re named "The Phoenix!"

There is a search window on the right hand side where you can type in ypur make, model, and year. This will take you to a minue where you can look up various accessories just for your bike. Mine is an XS11S, 1979, so the link is for that. Hope this helps.
