  • Cam Chain Adjuster Leak

    Hi Every1
    it appears that the plug in tip of the adjuster is leaking... so... my qusetion is this can it be taken off & put back on with out a big degree of difficulty .. such as taken off 2 replace gaskets etc... without havn 2 open up the motor or how else do or can i fix this ???

      This is a not uncommon problem. If the plug is securely in but still leaks, an easy fix is to seal it with Permatex RTV ultra. Just smeared that in the front of the plug and it hasn't leaked since (2000 miles so far).

        Mary, I like Rob's idea 1st. In fact my cycle just developed the same leak this past week and my intentions are to use the same sealer I used when making the mounting o-rings for my petcocks. I used Seal All by Eclectic Producers, inc out of La.(that's Louisiana down here). My friends said wouldn't work to cut generic o-rings to size and join them with sealer. So far no runs, no drips and no errors.

        I"m gonna save the deep fix reccomended in the 1st reply to your post for the deep of winter.
