Yes, I was able to pry up the outer casing/bezel from the back side, to be able to remove the bezel, and the glass, etc. to get to the faceplate. Just takes time, and a small tipped screwdriver, and patience, but surprisingly not that long, like just a few minutes to pry around the rim!
You can probably get a replacement piece of glass from a local auto store glass shop, take the bezel and old piece so they can size and cut one to match! There is a tech tip showing photos about what I did, just look in the MAIN FORUM PAGE, repairs!

TC is right. Use a small flat screw driver and a pair of pliars helps. I only needed to take off 3 sides, not all 4. Once that comes off, You are home free. When reinstalling if you are clamping it back down, make sure to put a thick rag in between metal and pliars to prevent scratching on outer surface.

I know I'm a day late and a dollar short. But, if you have a window company around that makes the windows there try them. Here we make our own windows and we cut our own glass. I never thought about cutting a small round piece for a speedo or tach but I had seen and done some small round glass almost as small.
Just like HobbyMan said use a rag on the outer ring with your pliers to keep from scratching the bezel. Just take your time when putting it back together.
