Now THAT would interest me. I like the smooth power of the shaft drive, but it would be nice to get more power to the back tire. A chain drive to me is absolutley out. Too much maintanance AND noise! Does anyone have any idea what the comparison for a good belt drive versus chain drive is as far as getting power to the rear wheel? Would you lose a little bit with the belt due to stretch and such?? I know many bikes that have a lifetime warranty on their belts.

I know belts are quieter, cleaner, and require less maintenance.
I Think you would get the same power increase as a chain or more due to it being lighter. The only problem that I have come across during my research on the subject is the size of the front pulley. I have already purchased the front and rear pulleys and wheels I am going to use. The diameter of the front pulley is about 5 or 6 inches. Alot bigger than a sprocket. I plan on running the belt to the back tire outside the frame. Also gonna be able to pretty much put on the fattest back tire you want. I got alot of my Ideas from a member of this forum named Viper. He has a chain drive on his and it runs on the outside of the frame. As soon as I make any positive progress rest assured this is the first place the info is going. Have a good one fellas.

                    now that looks sweet.

With the forward rake that these things have, combined with either drag or superbike bars on them, they start to fit the look of a bobber real quick.

What size pipes do you have running off the headers?

Now to find a way to dress up the seat area a bit more, thats the only catch I see

It isn't just the wieght giving more power. It is the fact that You do not have the 90deg gearing which is where power is lost. That is the major benefit. The more gearing you have, the more torque you loose. So with a horozontal output on the engine and a horozontal drive, virtually no torque is lost.

Super bike, I dig that cut down look, gotta have some 4/1 shorty (loud) exhaust. Solo seat makes a statment, no chicks on tihs one, all business. Having said that, I bought my XS11 just so I could carry the girl, my other bike is the cut down one ha ha ..

About the pipes, I just went to pep boys and picked up two 18" pieces of muffler pipe that had a 1 3/4 inside diameter. They fit perfectly. When I cut the old pipe it was just in front of the crossover. They fit so well that I havent even welded or attached them with any other means. They are just temporary until my buddy runs into some stock ones for me. He owns a bike shop About the seat area I am going to put the side covers back on and we'll see what that looks like first.

I have a project like that too. I am setting up to fit a R1 180x55x17 under my 'F'. I am planning on riding on a pair of radials by spring. Major frame modification required!

Im assuming you are going chain drive? Are you going to use an R1 swing arm? How are you gonna compesate for the width of the swing arm mounts on the frame verse the width of the swing arm itself? Just a few questions
