Fork Installation Height In Tree

Help! I removed old, rusty, forks from tree. Installed new,no rust, forks but did not note height fork should protrude above tree, put about 1/16" above air input ring. Also noted small notch in top of fork washer just under large nut and I aligned it with pointer on air input ring, both sides, and set damper to one inline with the same pointer. Is this the right install? Cannot find in XJCD.
Also have a small tube from crank case breather loose and do not know where it is supposed to connect to. It currently hangs down with battery overflow pipe but almost touches floor so I think it should go somewhere else. Dell82

The crank breather tube should go into the stock air cleaner. If you no longer have one, cut it shorter, put a filter on the end and leave it ABOVE the engine.

The small breather hose on the top, rear of the crank case is the middle drive vent. It is supposed to be routed up under the tank, and it has a stamped steel bracket that it attaches to, and that bracket attaches to the upper bolt that the airbox attaches with. The larger hose is the crankcase vent, and it attaches to the top, front of the airbox, above the carb inlet tubes. It should be ok where it is, just make sure it doesn't get clogged by road debris.

That's about right.
However I am going to lower my front forks to improve handling. It throws more weight forward on the bike planting the front end more firmly. It is a well known racers trick.

Just loosen the tree clamps and let the forks slide up about 10mm (1/2 inch).

Thanks John I saw the clamp up there when I removed the air cleaner but could not find what whent here---problem solved rapidly.
Maximan I believe that I will lower front as suggested as this is the first time riding since 1963.
