  • My xs1100 will not rev over 6000rpm

Anyone know why my xs1100 wont rev over 6000 rpms, and its max speed is 80-85 mph. It has more throttle but it sounds like it may be starving for fuel.

When is the last time you cleaned the carbs? Does it run ok at the lower RPMs? Anything done to the bike recently? Also, have you had it over 6000 before and this is a new occurence or has this always been a problem?

      More INPUT!

      Hey Matt,

Yeah, we need lots more input, what mods have been done to intake, exhaust, etc.!

A common problem is when folks put on INDY filters, certain ones have a thick lip that partially obstructs the air flow choking down the engine.

Make sure fuel lines are not pinched.

Do you have in line filters?

If not you might need to pull the petcocks and clean the screens. Also make sure your throttle cable is not in a bind or needs adjustment. If the carbs are not fully opening that could be it.
