Question: I am cleaning my carbs on a 79xs I found salvaged carbs on ebay. My orriginals were runin when the needle valves were screwed in until they broke off in the carb body. My question is why do my new carbs main nozzles two of the four have 16 holes in them and two have just 10 when I look at the original nozzels from the orriginal carb they each have 16 hole each whats up with that do the 10 holes go in the 2&3 cylinder or the 1&4 cylinders. or do all cylinders get the same 16 hole nozzel??? anybody got an Idea my clymenrs does not address this issue.

hmmmm... I'm sure I found some info on this site.
Since mine only needed bowl cleaning, I can only point you in a (hopefully) right direction.

Try the tech tips section, modifications and repairs section. Lotsa stuff there. Also check Ken Talbots page, plenty of stuff there too. The link is on this page somewhere

      Helolo,
Some of the carbs use different Needle jets (emulsion tubes), in cyl 1 & 4 than 2 & 3
. I have a bank of 80 carbs and a bank of 81 carbs. both have 4 identical (#300) Needle jets. Look in the links section and look for Blaine Hoopes web site (excellent carb information).
      Good luck with your carbs
