I have a high 8 second 540 C.I. 3000 pound Camaro with a Lenco transmission and my best 60 foot time is 1.20 seconds.You will never see a 1 second 60 foot time on an Eleven or any other stock bike for that matter unless of course you are catapulted off the deck of the USS Nimitz.Watch the NHRA drag races on tv and check out the times of the pro/stock bikes and you will see what I mean about 60 foot times.

See the 1/4 mile record is 3.22 at 412mph rocket powered with hydrogen peroxide Also a bit freaky when if you take a vehicle traveling at a steady 200 mph as it is crossing the start line, a top fuel dragster starting from a dead stop at the same moment will beat it to the finish line one quarter of a mile away.

Of course I was talking about piston engined wheel driven vehicles not rocket powered exhibition vehicles.I suppose you could affix a rocket to a ZZX1400 Kaw and generate some hellacious 60 foot times,but I don't think Angelle or Andrew would be jumping up and down to ride it.

Good grief, the XS11 is a great bike but it you’re going to get put out every time somebody out runs you in the quarter mile, you’re never going to be happy.

The CB1000 has a 16 valve engine and that’s going to give it a fair advantage on power also the dual range gearbox also gives it lower gearing so the rider can get through more gears in the ¼ mile too.

If you really need to have a Yamaha that will beat that bike, get a newer 16 or 20 valve model. Personally I’m rather fond or the XJ1100 and XJ1200 but there are many newer and fast models. I also like backing off on a drag at the speed limit and watch the other guy go flying down the road only to get nailed by a cop…

I explained in a prior post the performance advantage the XS had over a CB 1000 Custom.The CB 1000 had more valves but fewer cubic inches(975 cc's),smaller carburetors,weighed more and in stock form actually had less horsepower than a stock Eleven and was much slower.It was rated by Honda @ 89 horsepower and it's 10 speed gear box soaked up more power than the gearbox in the Eleven.Actually I am quite pleased with my XS and indeed I do own another Yamaha that is much faster.

I love my XS11 for what it does well.

Back in the day I worked at a Honda and Yamaha shop so I often got the chance to compair bikes head to head.

There are a lot of bikes I'd like to have but only a few that would replace the XS11 as my daily rider.

I know that Goldwings have tried, v-rods have tried, valkries have tried, honda 1800s have tried, they can't leave me. , alot of others have tried, but were nowhere close. Crotch rockets will beat me, but I wouldn't ride them very far, all of those paid a lot more than $750 dollars for their bikes. LOL. Later 'Dog
