  • Removing old gaskets

I have some time before my new gasket set and some parts arrive, so I decided to go ahead and clean up the gasket surfaces while I wait. Quick question: Has anyone discovered a good way to remove old stuck gasket material other than just a scraper? I'm looking for a labor saving brush on or spray on solution that will make removing the old material easier. I really don't want to scratch up the mating surfaces.

    Suggestions?

As always, thanks in advance, for any advice you can offer.

Permatex makes a spray on gasket remover. Works good on paper gaskets etc.. Will save bunch of time....
