Wiseco Big Bore/Oil Cooler/Carbs?

    In any case I wouldn't hesitate to install an 1196. I am utterly pleased with mine. If you have an extra block...as I do...then you can always revert to it if need be.

    I also have 4 different exhaust for Zilla. The kerker I have will not even come close to working with a standard oil cooler adapter. That is not to say that some kerkers won't with some adapter. Just not mine.

    Having said that...I would not even begin to contemplate running an 1196 big bore with out a cooler...at least not the way I ride. The increased compression is really cranking out the heat on this motor at highway speeds ... especially across the desert.

    This has been my experience so far. YMMV.

      Nice boxes T.C., but mine aren't so redneck.........I will send a pic when I can download one. Mine have tig welded frames with the aluminum panels attached with stainless hardware. I made them for my 78 XS and kept them when I sold the bike. Bolted right up to my 79.

        I am not a pilot but I do ground service all the private aircraft thay fly into Aspen. And yes, that is how I received the nickname PapaNovember. As for the the big bore kit, I guess when I get the oil cooler I will decide what to do. I will let you know if it fits with my Kerker. I can get the oil filter housing off no problem, but I can see it will be much tighter when the adapter drops it down some. In the meantime, I'll be dreaming of the big bore kit. I wish there were more exhaust options out there...

          Read the thread "Dyno Results Hot off the presses". GNEPIG did some effective modification to his stock exhaust. If you could use your stock exhaust and get the performance you want then the oil cooler would be a cinch.
