Sorry for the poor quality, all I have is fonecam

This is how I got it, now it's scattered all over the garage.
Hope to have it spittin fire by next weekend, if not sooner. Have to finish cleaning the carbs, do the brakes, and clean the tank.

The guy cabbaged on the bags, I think they will have to go away. The mounts are all homemade, and butt ugly. Don't know where the bags came from, no labels.
Not settled yet on the fairing, I think a bullet nose would look better, if not straight nekkid.
Jury is out on the seat, I'll try some butt time first. I prefer the original look.
I gave up 500 for it, probably worth twice that in scrap. So i am pleased with the purchase.

    Hey Dan,

That's an awesome find in great quality! Those bags look like SHOEI brand to me, but I could be wrong. I'm sure you'll be able to find takers for both them and the fairing if you want to dump them!

I noticed it has some extra driving lights...probably halogen. You'll want to check out the charging system soon, an extra load like that can damage the volt/reg/rect unit as well as just crapping out with age.

Those handlebars are the original buckhorn type, you may want to get some others as well once you have some saddle time, depending on how they treat your hands/wrists? Many folks find them too bent inwards and puts your wrists in an awkward position.

Take your time, read the tech tips FIRST, then do the work. Like with the carbs.....DO NOT soak the entire body in carb cleaner, you'll damage the butterfly shaft seals!! Little things like that are in the tech tips to keep you out of trouble and save you $$.

PS saw your test photo, you forgot to post it, I added it, it shows you also have a 650 style front fork brace.....keep it!!! Makes the front end much more stable!!

      Yah TC,
I am concerned about those lights. He has the wires all kludged up. Going to take some sorting out. Got my meter and my XS11.com. It's all good.

The bars have a 2"setback bracket also. The guy is over 6', not sure how that worked out. Must feel like a tiller on a boat. The OEM bars on my XV920 are like that. Gives you wrist cramps after a short time.

Lots of home made/shadetree stuff, but nothing that can't be undone. He kept the original headlight and hardware for which I am eternally grateful.

Didn't check the compression yet, I had squirted about 20cc ATF in before I tried to move it, but it blows my thumb off easily. I'll check it today, now that it's run through. After it soaked, I spun it loose with the kick lever, and 5th gear tire spin. Added 4QT of ATF to the crankcase and spun it briefly with the starter. None of the plugs showed rust, YAY! #4 is bone white though. The boots show the usual external cracks, I may try the RTV trick while it's apart.

I don't think I'll ever get the stink from the 13 year old gas out of my blazer, GAK! Shook it up and dumped it, (all over my shoe) blasted it at the carwash, left quickly. Gonna do the shake rattle and roll today.

I learned about the cleaner and rubber thing a long time ago, put in an oring and it comes out a begal!

      Cheers

Looking good for setting 13 years

Been thinking of putting some extra lights on my 80G to make it a little more visable.
