  • Remove Vetter and returning to Stock 79XS1100SF

I'm thinking about taking the vetter "windjamer II" off and returning my 79 1100 Special to the stock headlight. Has anyone done this before? Any tips or suggestions? I don't have the original headlight or housing, but the brackets are still on the bike. Also, any ideas on where to get the parts?
    Thanks,

I am in the process of doing exactly that. I found everything I needed, including brackets in one sale on ebay for under $60.00. You gotta be patient then decide if you ware gonna win it from the start and just go for it, I lost a couple before I got my set up. Also, eBay sellers who say they are "Parting out an entire bike" may have the parts, just not on ebay.... yet. Drop them a line and try to get them that way.

Great tips TomKat. Might make a good winter project. Whenever I have the fairing off, I can't get over how much better the original lines of the bike looked.

I bought a Full dressed XS11 and sold the touring gear on ebay. That got the price of the bike down to $200.00 then I had to get it running as it had been siting for 5 years. The topper is the buyer of the touring gear said "what are you going to put on your bike now?" Stock stuff, I replied, and he sent me his seat and headlight free. I really like the lines of the stock standard tanK. Now if it were only Jan. 19th '06 I'd be set. I did make up some clubman style bars mounted upside down.
