  • New Guy (Cripes, not another one!)

    Greetings
    I just purchased a '79 Special for 5 Benjamins.
27K miles, Windjammer( I think), hard bags, back rest, cruise pegs, driving lights. (Probably all coming off.)
Been sitting since '93, so needs some TLC. Gotta pick it up this week.
No pix yet, but it's pretty clean. I am 3rd owner. PO is in his 60's and bought it in '81. I doubt it's seen the north side of 5k RPM.
I have been reading thru all yer stuff here, thanks for that.
Right now, I also have an '82 XV920 that I rescued from a barn. It has been a very dependable ride, but I wanted something with longer legs.
I seem to attract Yams without trying. Had a DT1 a long time ago, a 650 twin, two Viragos, now this thing. WTF?

Cheers from Dallas, 300 riding days/year.

Especially since the PO would have been in his forties or so when he got the bike in '81, when it was only a couple of years old. Just as long as it didn't spend a lot of time north of redline...

But of course, steaks, beer, breakfast and if gas dosen't start taking a nosedive, we might write in another rule. Of course, if they follow the first three, I have plenty of $$ for gas.

I think after the Galvaston run, we might have to figure one up for the toll bridges.

Hey, careful with the > 60 stuff. I'll be crossing that bridge later this year! While I love to tour I also get great pleasure in leaving my neighbor and his beemer in my dust from a stop light.

Welcome aboard, these guys on this site will save you mucho $$ and help you keep your ride at the top of it's game.....

                          Ok, it's on the trailer.
Waiting for traffic to chill, then off to my brothers garage for R&R.
Possible pix by tonight with my crappy fonecam.
Still looks good in the daylight, no remorse yet.
                          That come later.............NOT!
                          Thanks for the welcome.
