carbs running rich rejet or drop needles?

All hoses are on right and no blockage nowhere at all..I just took it for a ride and it is the best it has been but still not right..I am going to sync the carbs and set the idol, new plugs and see how it is then..

ok I got it..ALL THE OVERFLOW HOSES MUST BE HOOKED UP OR IT WILL NOT RUN RIGHT..PERIOD..THAT IS WHAT MADE ALL THE DIFFERANCE, IT RUNS STRONG ALL THE WAY TO REDLINE ALL I HAVE TO DO IS MAYBE REJET IT OR MOVE THE NEEDLES IT IS POPING WHEN YOU DEACCELERATE OTHERWISE IT IS GREAT...THANKS

the decelerating pop is most likely the result of your 4-1 exhaust. At least that is what I was told here. I have here that on some other bikes that run the BS34's (Suki's maybe) that they had an enriching diaphram on the side just for that. I wonder how those would work on an XS?

Hey Mr. Bill,

That's great, glad you finally figured it out! The 4-1 pipes can pop on decel normally. Loose exhaust gaskets can aggravate things. Something about better flowing pipes, and then shutting the butterflies leans the air/fuel mixture. You may need just a tweaking of the Pilot Screws a little richer?
