  • LEDS for Vetter trunk

    Greetings all,
Has anyone swapped out their lights on a Vetter trunk for a set of LEDS??? Looking for suggestion and sizes or a good place to buy them. Also, once I complete this project I want to do the rest of the bike, suggestions on where to start???

    Thanks, DJ

    Hey DJ,

Check out these threads, Turn signal LED Mod and Brake light LED mod , in there you'll find a link to the place to get LEDs. I don't know what style the lights are on your vetter bag, but you can probably find some that will be a close match, either round or oval like truck/trailer lights, or individual bulbs, and even special led boards that are separate from the part the fits into the bulb socket for easier mounting and positioning compared to the position of the OEM bulb socket!

www.jameco.com has a good variety if you are thinking of build up your own LED arrays. The more you buy the cheeper they are.

www.allelectronics.com is another source I like to use.

I am thinking of making a LED replacement for the turn signals on my 'F'.

        Hey DennyZ,

Why go thru all that work putting together your own boards and individual leds, when you can get a good array from SUPERBRIGHTLEDS.com ?? THey have 24 and 36 bulb 1156 and 1157 style in their RV/Other type section!

          "as a matter of fact..."

Just received my order of LEds fer my Vetter trunk last week.
Now... I can't 'member just what kind of bulbs it took originally, but currently the trunk is set up for 1157 bulbs(running lights and brake lights) The extra bulbs played hell mit mein charging system so I decided to swap them out.(already LED'd my brake and turn signals)
Anyway... bought four 1157 LED bulbs for the trunk from SUPER BRIGHT LEDs. Got the 1157-R24 bulbs, narrow.(NARROW: all pointed in the same direction. Wide angle have a few aimed to the sides) Color:RED
$7.29 per... shipping $5.. came to $34.16. Arrived in three days.
Haven't put them in yet... but like what the LEDs did for the brake and signals.
Can let you know how they look in a few days.
(My trunk has the four round lenses)

I have LEDs on my Vettter Trunk. I used oval truck lights, and they seal and work VERY well, ask MAXIMAN.
These are the lights I installed:

I did have to cut the plastic in an oval, but they do look clean, and REALLY light up behind me when I hit the brakes.

That is what I had, but the fixtures were failing from age. I'll see if I can post a pick, but the two ovals look good, and they fit in the oval space that two lights are in.
