  • High speed vibration

Recently I serviced my forks with new seals and polished them. Ever since I reinstalled them, I have a fairing shake from about 75 mph to around 80 mph. Nothing seems to shake except the fairing. I am worried that this might cause undo stress on the fairing and lead to stress cracks. I also noticed that the fairing is not quite aligned with the handlebars. I think! When I am going down the road it seems like my speedo cluster is slightly off center from my fairing center. I am only talking like maybe 5 degrees.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

When you serviced the forks, did you loosen all the bolts and then slowly tighten them to specs? When you do work on the forks, you do need to loosen ALL the pinch bolts on the triple trees, and the pinch bolts on the axle. You then snug them all up, and go around again to tighten them. If you don't do this, you may have an alignment problem, and can get a slight to very bad wobble.
Check the "Tech tips" if your not sure what I'm talking about.

I have a 78E with a Vetter fairing. It would start to shake at qround 75.The hose clamps that hold the lower part of the fairing were a little loose. A little time witha screwdriver took care of the shake. I would look at the fairing also.
