    this is the deal i have an 82 1100 maxim and i fixed 2nd gear and got the bike running now it has this problem you take off and it pops before 4 grand it is slagish then bang it goes great the noise sounds like a clunkcoming from the left side i thought it might be popping out of frist but the engine does not rev before it clunks and goes could this be the drive shaft im lost and i need some help thanks Greg

    It's late for me, but I'll try to help.
    #1. Check that the vacum for the "sensor" is from the #2 carb, and NOT the carb boot.
    #2. You may have a problem with the carbs. The lower RPM is the "pilot" jet, and the screw on the front of the carbs. The 80, I think, has a "sealed" pilot screw. You should have the "seal" removed by now. If not, you may have to remove it.
    #3. Check the "tech Tips" on the left side. It may help with the trouble shooting.
