Can someone tell me if these are the correct plastic floats to buy from Mikes XS

    http://www.mikesxs.com/mikesxs-fuel...category_id=4.2

    Part #20-6502

about 1/2 way down the page.
    says
Plastic Carb Float - Fits: 1980-84 XS650 Stock 34mm. Mikuni CV Carbs.
This looks like it is the correct replacement float based on carb description but if anyone knows it would be nice to have some sort of confirmation before I order them at 12 bucks USD a peice.

    Thanks
    Rob

I saw the plastic floats there at Mikes, and they had a 3H5 P/N. That is the prefix for an 80G so they sould work. I have a set of plasic floats in a set of 78 carbs, and they are working fine, so that tells me that they would be interchangable from the 650 to all models of 11's...I just checked YamaMama's parts site, and the P/N of the floats is definitly the correct one for the 80G. The 79 F uses a totally different P/N... it's a 2A2 P/N for the 79F.

This type is the only plastic floats I found on Mikes site. So in your opinion these would be the ones I need?

Yeah. Buy 4 of them, and set the heights to the specs for an 80 SG. Are you putting them on a 79F?

          Thanks
Yes I am going to use them on my 79F to replace the stock brass floats that seem to be inconsistent. I want to eliminate the floats as an issue.

I have the plastic floats in my 79F. Did yamaha switch from brass to plastic in mid-year 79? Kind of like the tubeless rims? or do you think the PO swapped floats? The carbs are definitely 78-79 type.
