  • Excessive gas cap venting... ??

It seems that my gas cap must have some type of problem. It must not be venting properly (too much) or something. It sends fumes and fuel all over the tank after each fill up. The cap is original. Any ideas?

Also, how might I improve my woeful 20/25mpg city/highway gas mileage?

Change the gas cap gasket, the rubbery thingie that seals the hole and check the spring there too.
