When I got my bike about 6 weeks ago, I changed the oil, but not the filter as I didn't have one. I finally got near the yami shop, and got a filter, and a big jug of mobil 1 synthetic 20/50.
I put my bike up on the center stand, and pulled the plug, and only about 2 qts came out....I know that when I changed oil I put in at least 3 qts or maybe a slight bit more, and the sight gauge indicated full. I had written in earlier about a noisey tranny, well, I think I may have been a little low on oil. Now, after wrestling with those darn rubber grommets on the filter that kept popping out, and filling the whole thing fresh with synthetic, the shifting is noticibly smoother, and there is less clunk in the tranny. I didn't realize that the engine would use a quart so quickly. I probably have only put on about 1200 miles since I got the bike, and I keep it clean. There never seems to be any oil drips or any oil leakage that I can detect. Where did the oil go? is it magically used up by a non smoking engine much like the early 80's honda cars? could it be leaking into the intermediate drive?
Also, I have notice one other thing, and then I'll let you go, there seems to be grease coming out of the front wheel bearing on to the rotors. is this normal or is there a seal that may need to be replaced?
Thanks you guys for all the input on my first message...
