  • rotated carb slide / spun diaphragm

When cleaning my diaphragms to coat them I noticed that one slide could spin relative to the diaphragm position. I searched the forum and couldn't find any other threads about this. The BS34 doesn't have slides cut away on one side, but it does have a vent hole on the bottom of the slide that should be facing the engine. I think I just found the source of my jet needle wear. $#@*%&!!!! Anybody else out there that has seen this? The 10-24 nut forced on the rear master cylinder stud should have been enough of a warning about life with my XS. Why God? What have I done to offend thee?

I have never tweeked the lock ring on any of mine, but, I had an 81 that I had to rotate around to get the hole to the front. It wasn't very easy.
