  • Will it fit?

I posted earlier about removing my fairing and going going with out. When I look at buying the bucket and mounting brackets, will they be interchangable from model to model and year to year? I am looking at a 1979 XSX1100F set up and don't want to bid alot if it won't fit my '79 SF.

I can check it out for you this evening, I have the parts from a 79F for the headlight and can match them up to my 79SF. I'll post my findings later tonight.

The easy way is to buy the "universal" fit 7" round headlight bucket and mounting ears. There have been posts on these, if you use the search. The "standard" has the rectangular headlight, and the fork tubes are set for a little different angle. The big thing is if the headlight has NOT been replaced with the new style H4, trying to find a headlight is almost impossable. They DO NOT use the "standard" automobile headlamps, as they need a couple of "locating ears" on the bulb itself.

I wonder, then, if this is one of those? It is a round headlight bucket, along with the blinkers and bracket on eBay. The guy says it is off of the 79 F. It is all of the parts I think I will need to make the switch over once the fairing is gone, and it looks to be in good shape.

          Hey Tom,

IF it's round, it's from a SPECIAL, not a standard! So...should work just fine!

Thanks T.C.! I'll lay out a big ol' bid on it in the morning before I leave for work and cross my fingers. It closes at 08:30 so I won't know the outcome until I get home. Wish me luck!!

I got it. $58.09 + $10.00 shipping for the headlight bucket, bulb, blinkers & brackets. Complete assembly. More than fair I think.
