  • Dunlop Goldseal F11 tire

I've got a Dunlop goldseal F11 tire on the front of my 78 parts bike that looks to be in good shape. I want to replace the Kenda Challenger front tire on my 79 with it... Anyone have any experience with the F11? Doesn't look to be weather checked and there's good tread left but it probably hasn't been on the road since at least 2001.

hasn't been on the road since at least 2001.

On the side wall there's a "date code" stamped in it.
Should find out just how old this tire is.

Had a set of tires with just over half the tread left on my 80G when I got it.

Just thought what a crappy handling bike the XS was. Put a new set of tires on and what a difference. Not the same ride at all.

Old tires became "hard", followed grooves in the road, lousy traction but skidded and drifted real well.

Long story short, may not want to use 5 year old or older tires.

      Hey Tom,

Coupla a concerns. First, the 78 should require tube. Is the newer tire a tube or tubeless design? Is the 79 a tube or tubeless rim?

Also, there is a date stamp on the side of the tire, usually a round or oval with 4 numbers, the first 2 are the month, the 2nd 2 are the year of manufacture.
But being 5 years old already, most folks recommend replacing anyways....tire rubber hardens due to exposure to atmosphere, ozone. You want good rubber on the front, easier to control a rear tire failure than a front tire failure!!
