    Another Carb Question

Dissected carbs. Yep sure enough, pulling out idle screw washer/o-ring and DANG-IT !@#$%^&*!!!!!! Washer bounced off wire, to the leg and destenation under the bench! Well, spent an hour lookin for that dam# little thing before givin in for now. That was carb #1, went to #2. This Idle screw wouldn't even come out! Had to drill and easy-out------saved the carb body! WHEW!!!!! Rest went ok.
Mikesxs has mixture screw part # 48-5011 for BS34. Does anyone know if these will work. '80LG

    Thanks

How do you keep the main idle screw from backing out? I could try thread lock but I may want to adjust it later. Has anyone had this problem before?

Main idle screw should have a spring on it to keep it in tension so it doesn't move on it's own.

You need to get yourself a big magnet, assuming the washer is steel, and that washer will jump right off the floor onto the magnet. I have an old car speaker that I use for searching for bits like that.

Yea, the BIG magnet is attractive possibility. Will try this morn. I should make correction however, this is the Idle Mixture Screw I am refering to.

            80mdnt11,

            # 48-5011 from MikesXS fit perfectly on my '81 LH so it should work fine on your '80 LG. Of course, if you still have the screw and spring then you could save a few bucks and purchace # 48-5012.

Yes the main idle screw has a spring on it I also have a spare set of carbs and swaped idle screws and spring and still backs off. Someone said that I could get the idle set then put some paint or nonpermanent thread lock om it. The bike runs great until idle screw backs off.

That's probably because you're re-using old springs. Try stretching the spring a bit to provide more tension, or replace 'em
