Here's shots of the header I scored on Ebay. I don't know what kind it is but it is much larger than the Kerker I bought. Also this header clears the oil cooler with room to spare. The Kerker wasn't even close. This maybe an RC Engineering as it was one of the few headers with BIG primaries and collectors. The meg doesn't really look like a Kerker style meg with the "bent" muffler.

The quality of the chrome on this pipe is very high. The only reason I had it ceramic coated is because of the ding in the number 4 primary. We got a lot of the dent out by using GNEPIG's method of pressuring the heaer and heating it up. We might have gotten all of it out but I fear blowing a hole in the pipe so we stopped while we were ahead. If anyone has any other ideas of how I could completely remove the dent please I'm open to all suggestions.

I haven't tuned the bike to this exhaust yet but the butt dyno tells me this exhaust has resulted in a huge gain. I'll know tommorrow for sure as I will be putting the beast on the dyno for final tuning.

Here's a shot showing the excelent clearance between the cooler/filter cover and the header.

I'll post final dyno results tomorrow evening after we get it tuned.

      well..
      don't remove it?
spot weld and grind, polish to a smooth finish?

also, where did you get that oil cooler?

Looks the same as my exhaust. I have found that I bottom out on medium and tall speed bumps. Even worse with a passenger.

          It's a B&M Supercooler with a B&M thermostat. Bought it at NAPA.

PAT-So is your's a kerker? What is the OD of your primaries and collector. The only muffler of a kerker I've seen is that "bent" thing. This silencer is more bell shaped.

Headpipes are 1.5" OD. Collector is 2.25" OD. Megaphone flares from 3" OD to 4". I found a baffle at a local boneyard. 8 SuperTrapp diffuser discs and endcap finish it off.
As in earlier posts, I want to make a Y pipe to replace the muffler and run 2 SuperTrapps (10" length) to replicate the stock appearence on my LG. I like the SuperTrap for the tunability of backpressure.

Can you post a picture or e-mail me one?

Also you didn't answer if it was a "Kerker" or some other brand.

There are no markings. It is Ebay brand.
The 4 head pipes come to the collector at the center of the bike, exhaust flow is quite balanced with all cylinders

The megaphone muffler section is too long and sticks out too far to match the lines of the bike in my opinion. On a standard it would look better as is

That is why I want to split it at the collector and run it to both sides with smaller mufflers. The left side of the bike looks too empty without a muffler there. The 10" SSuperTrapps will end at the axle like the stock exhaust. I got this exhaust to preserve the stock exhaust

Yep that is identical to my pipe.

I agree for a naked Special it's a little long. However it works great for my full dresser...get's the exhaust back out past the hard bag. The stock exhaust blackened the underside of the hard bag.

I believe if these were Kerkers they would have Kerker stamped on them as every Kerker I saw did. Also Kerker has the "jointed" muffler.

Since they are vintage pipes...obviously not MAC nor Jardine...they could only be one of three or four others ... namely Supertrapp...Vance and Hines...Hooker... or RC Engineering.

They are NOT a Supertrapps. I know what an ST loos like and have done my best to snag one. I have engrained the image of a Supertrapp 4-1 in my mind.

I believe all the Vance and Hines I have seen also have the VH logo on the megaphone so I don't think these are VH...however the baffle kinda looks like VH.

Hookers were pretty rare but Russ Collins was a popular exhaust back in the day. I'm kinda leaning to the idea they are RC.

Do you like the sound of yours? When I first installed it I figured mine would be overly obnoxious. I was pleased to find the sound isn't bad. Although the the sound of this pipe is as good as my OEM low rumble it's ok ...and the performance gain is well worth the loss of "low rumble".

When I got it it was bare, no baffle, nothing. I ran it like that for a few days. It was XStremely loud (just ask Uncle Spot).
A few days later I found the baffle, wrapped it in fiberglass batting (made for this purpose). It took some of the edge off but it was still really loud (I'm not that fond of loud pipes XSecpt for the racetrack). The discs and endcap has it about perfect.
One thing I notice is that when accelerating slowly, at certain RPMs, it sounds like more than one bike, kinda neat.
SuperTrapp recommends 6 to 8 discs for a stock 1100. I have all 8 in now. Runs real nice. We'll see how it compares to other XSs at the Tahoe 2 rally.

                      Ok fellas...final report.

In short I rode Zilla to Tahoe. It ran like a fire breathing beast. But it sounded like it as well. The 2.5 inch megaphone I ginned up was effective but LOUD.

So when I got home I installed a modified R1 can. Got lucky. It didn't hurt the power and it made the bike drop dead quiet. This is good news for an old man's ears.

Here's a pic of the carbon fiber R1 can installed.

Here's the final dyno run. We had to tweek the carbs a little and while I was at it I dialed the ignition timing forward 4 degrees. It didn't make any difference on top but did on bottom. The base run 005 is the stock bike. The final run 80 (that's right I've made 80 runs on a DynoJet) is with all the mods listed at the bottom.

22.8 peak hp (32%) increase is impressive...but notice something even more impressive. At 9500 rpm the engine is making a whopping 30 more hp than stock.

And yes fellas...it's very use-able. I can take Zilla to 9500 now and it never misses a beat. But know this...I RARELY DO IT. I baby Godzilla...and be honest...you would too if he were yours.
