Well Maximan don't know what you have done to your bike. Mine is a 1980 XS1100G or H ??? standard with oil cooler etc.
I put on the Motad went on without a problem everything is still accessible.
You seemed to contradict yourself a bit about performance (if you want performance buy an MV) personally I found the Motad as close to the original pipes as you could get as far as performance goes just a few small differences.....Quieter (translating to quicker cause you don't draw the crabs) Gears change at lower revs so that means better torque, smoother running and slightly better fuel consumption and if I rode it a bit steadier even better. Better ground clearence, did I mention quieter.
Don't know why some of you guys there want to sound like a Harley after all it is an XS1100 you dont have to make a noise to be noticed.....just make it look good and go good

      Hey Maximan
What's a highly modified motor??????surely not a big bore kit??
Try 2 plugs / cylinder hightop pistons turbo charged with a NOS kit putting out 200 odd horse power....not mine of coarse but Madbills

        Christian,

I don't really want sound like a Harley. The my highly modified motor is not a radical setup but it is nowhere near stock. The engine will NOW flow way mroe than either the Motad or OEM exhaust will handle. Read the post I made named "Rebuilding the Beast" for details.

Essentially It's and 1196 big bore...1981 head milled .018...lightly ported with intake and exhaust ports flange matched. Intake opened up (ported)...5 angle radius valve seats. Web Stage 2 intake, 36mm FJ1200 carbs.

If I had known the design of the Motad I would've passed. But I could not see the "Y" collector in any photos of the system I saw. Motad doesn't really give much info on it.

I think this Motad header is a great header for a stock setup. It is very quiet and that I LOVED about the system. But it simply wouldn't flow enough to give us the gains we wanted.

Like I said the apples to apples the OEM exhaust gave us 5 more horsepower than the motad.

I have no doubt this Kerker will give us an additional 7 or 8 over the stock exhaust which will put the Maxim into the mid 90's on peak power.

Thanks for your help Christian. I really enjoyed our visit on the phone last month. I hope to meet you some day.

        G'day mate

        Cody
