I have a issue with mine and the Idle was adjusted to about 1000 RPM and every now and then it would idle at 3000+ RPM. IT turned out to be an air leak into the carbs.

I hope this helps, if not sorry.

I've seen bad gas do weird stuff , not sure if you have fresh gas or not ...??
On my Mercury boat , I had bad fuel oil and it would rev on its own .I even killed the ignition and it revved up with no spark.
Put new gas in and all fixed !!

        Good luck

Your carbs are WAY out of sync. This can happen after a carb job. Even one carb being open too much will drag the others with it and run the idle up.

You first need to get the butterflys near the same opening to begin with, then you'll have a workable idle and can do the fine-sync with the mercury stick.

Do a search here for bread tie sync for an explaination. Use the wire from a bread tie as a feeler guage to set the basic butterfly opening(s)
