    $100 typical for 79 ignition unit?

    Little high if you are talking used. You can buy a brand-new one with a performance modified ignition curve for about $150 or a bit less, guy on eBay sells them.

      preformance

      whats the scoop on the preformance unit...what improvement does it make? hotter spark? if i go with that one will i need to adjust anything else, like the carbs? thanx

        Don't know about the Ebay ones, but IF you're not in too big a hurry to replace yours, then check with RANDY, he repairs the earlier model 78-80 2H7 series TCI for much less$$

        Those TCI's can go for around $25.00 or so, since they are more plentiful than the 81 or 82 series. But, lately seems like everyone is discovering the wonders of XS11's, and parts prices are climbing at rediculous rates!

        There's a thread that shows how you can replace your TCI completely with parts from auto store, since you already have both the centrifugal and vacuum advance modules to control those timing curves, you just need the triggering system, and the auto modules do that easily!!! I'll find it and post it in this message!
