needle jets/emulsion tubes

OK, I figure that I've wasted enough time. '79SF, I.E. BS34 series II carbs. Has anyone, anywhere, found a source for the needle jets? Preferably real Mikuni, but I'm flexible and I'll buy what I can get! Thanks, Tommy P.S. Anyone with good slide diaphragms that can tell me how long it should take the slides to drop when plugging the vent hole?

Thanks MRO, I've been looking at those for a while. Same type, but different size ID and hole placement. I need a X-2 type to match with the 5GZ6 needle. Sigh.

Thanks Skids, I'll check them out tonight. Any idea/is there a way to use a MityVac pump to check for correct opening vacuum?

needle jets are still avaliable from yamaha, just a bit priceyat about $27.00 each

You can watch operation with a shop vac just to ensure smooth operation... they should rise quick quickly about half way and then rise slowly to the top, when the throttle plate is wide open. At least, this is how they work with my Sears shop vac.

Of course you can also check for smooth slide operation by manually raising the slide, and allow air to squeek by your thumb which is covering the oval hole.

That's a long time. Mine go down in about 3 seconds, from pushing up about 2/3rd way.

If there supposed to take that long, I may have issues, but she runs pretty darn good "as is" from idle thru red line.

I'm picking up a can of plastidip rubber spray just to be sure. I was actually thinking about pulling the cone filters off and videotaping them. My camera will fit in the space OK, so why not?

Unfortunately, the kit includes everything but the needle jet. I've got some used carbs coming, so I'm curious to see what condition the jets are in when they show up. Very small amounts of wear on either the needle or the jet I.D. can seriously affect the mid-range mix. I noticed one of my needles was slightly scuffed when I cleaned the carbs first time around, so jet wear is likely. The BS34II is something of a nightmare for parts. I can see FI or other carbs in the future.

noticed the link you posted for z1 is for a K&L carb rebuild kit - beware - the K&L jets (pilot jet, main jet, etc) are probably the wrong size - at least they do not match up with the original/stock Mikuni jets.
