these are the most difficult bolts to get commercially, period. Took 3 months to find, 10 minutes to install these stainless steel caliper bolts. Now off to find the middle and rear drive gear oil plugs in stainless....chop

Ok so why the tease, I don't want to search for three months. Where did you get them and what is the part # for the rotor bolts. I've already got the caliper bolts, bought off the shelf at All Metric here in Houston.
If you tell me I will send you a new cotter key.Last edited by pathfinder; 07-21-2006, 08:57 AM.There's always a way, figure it out.

hey, that cotter pin is stainless also, been there for >3 yrs.. the rotor bolts are from Fastenal m8x1.25, you must remove one and check the length. The caliper bolts are from ebolt.com in the U.K. M10x1.25x30mm. takes 10-14 days to arrive. I am polishing them to chrome finish.MDRNF

Hi Chop, I did similar not so long ago and swapped the disc bolts and slider bolts for S.S. allen heads, but not having any patience like you, used H.T. steel allen heads for the fine-thread 10mm mounting bolts which are reasonably easy to find.

hey pggg, you should be able to get the stainless caliper bolts easier than I. BTW, i have found stainless bleeder valve screws from a dirtbike shop, they are on the way. It's all in the details...notice the stainless fork bleeder screw?MDRNF

Oh yeah, missed thet little screw, that's next then Chop, my front end always seems shamefully dirty compared to a lot of bikes on this website, any detail seems to disappear under layers of grunge A local nut/bolt shop here say they CAN get the 10mm 1.25 allen heads in S.S. if needed. Chop, looks like you may eventually have the worlds first De Lorean XS1100

more S.S.
hey MrO, pretty simple choke pull, just had to recess the middle area for the circlip. The dog-bone shaped carb separators on top took a few hours to make/polish..the fork caps are stainless, and I guess you call that shiny thing below a tree nut adjuster-dust cover? handlebars are S.S. too.
Just to let folks know how crazy I am, I went and made the wheel drive gear from polished aluminum. Didn't want to add any weight to the rotating wheel, that's not the goal here. The fender hanger is solid S.S. as well, also the breather cap for the final drive.
AND I KICK MYSELF FOR NOT DOING THIS EARLIER. THIS SEAT HAS NO ATTACHMENT BOLTS AND HUGS THE FRAME WITH NO SHIMMY.THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN FACTORY!Last edited by xschop; 07-25-2006, 07:29 AM.MDRNF

Hey can you please post more pics of that seat...maybe the underside and some with it on the bike? I hate my "king and queen" seat and I want to make my own!1979 XS11 Special (slightly modified)

seat
the seat is a 1-piece fiberglass that you can make yourself. All you have to do is remove side covers/seat and duct tape the whole area, spray PAM,add your layers of fiberglass, let harden, trim excess, then bondo-glass and sand. Make the seat pan by doing the same procedure over this mold so it fits like a glove....MDRNF

DUDE!!! Your bike looks sweet! Finally sombody with a solo seat and custom fender. I was begining to think that nobody out there had done what I wanted to do! I helped my brother in law make a pretty cool looking chopper out of an 85 Vulcan (not a cool looking bike originally). Anyway, I have all types of questions for you. What is your fender off of? How did you mount it? I don't want to bother you, but if you have more pictures of how everything goes together I would REALLY appreciate it.
