79 1100F Trany Question
I recently refurbished a 79 XS11F and have a complete back up engine that I am hopping up. While researching I came across an article that says that there is a factory error in the 1978 engine trany. being that my backup engine is a 78 engine I would like to know if anyone has any additional info on this issue.
The claim is that 2nd gear can not engage fully with 5th gear to create 2nd because there is a spacer that should be on the shaft before the 2nd gear. This spacer is currently put on after 2nd gear. I have my cases split at this time to do this mod.
Any input would be appreciated
