    balancing floats

I was reading up on the site here about balancing carb floats, and it left me wondering, is the measurement Ken gives of 23mm for the '80 xs11 to the top of the float or the bottom? (since the carbs are upside down when you do this)

    Thanks.

That would be to the bottom of the float, which when turned upside down, is on the top. Most often, as people get working on improving their gas mileage, or move to 4 into 1 exhaust, and/or individual air filters, that measurement goes to 25mm or so. This lowers the float in the chamber, which results in a leaner condition.

I see, thanks for the quick reply.

Just one more quick question though, does anyone know if you can still get the float needles from Yamaha? or should I start searching the net? since 2 of mine are near siezed.
