    break change

    well today I wanted to change my rear break pads... so I pulled off the old ones and went to install the new ones and the calleper was not out enough to let me put in the new ones...the old would still go back in... then for some great reason i pushed on my break peddel and now it is out more and the old will not even fit.... i unhooked the line and dried to manualy push it out and couldnt... what do I need to do...please help...I wanna ride this afternoon... Thanks

    What I usually do is pull off the gas tank in case the master cyl overflows. Brake fluid is hell on paint. Then put an old pad in to exert even pressure on the cylinder, then use a large flat-tipped screwdriver to push the pad/cylinder inwards. Use a turkey baster or something to make sure that the M.C. doesn't overflow.

      I use a small "C" clamp, as stated prev. watch out for over flow of brake fluid from M/C.

        If you have a small C clamp, you can use that to compress the piston back into the caliper. Put the old brake pad against the piston, and protect the paint on the caliper by putting a rag between the C clamp and the caliper. Just tighten the clamp, and the piston will compress easily.
