some times wheni turn on the key the head light comes on right away and sometimes it dont some times when I start it the headlight comes on and sometimes it dont when it doesnt come on when I start the bike I have to rev it up in order to get the light to come on once it comes on it stays on until you shut the bike off help me out with this please

.. first thing you want to do is remove the headlight and check, clean and lube [dialectric grease] the conections. then you want to remove the fuel tank, locate a black box that says RESERVE LIGHTING DEVICE and unplug it and clean and lube that conection. then you will want to check the head light fuse conection, clean and lube and make sure that the fuse holder is not broken.. then sit down, drink two beers and call me in the morning.
.. if you still have a problem after doing all of that stuff, let us know and we will take you to the next step.

wire harness

unwrap the wire harness up near the left side under the tank and smell the wires for that putrid burnt rubber smell. If it is fried, untangle the wires in that section and rewrap. People have a tendancy to put larger wattage bulbs in the headlights and larger fuses causing problems in the harness(BURNT WIRES)...chop

Clean and grease the starterbutton. My maxim was just like that, and i just did that and i have no problem after.

Try to wiggle the starterbutton if the light dont come on after you have start the engine, i guess it come right on, if it does, it`s the starterbutton....
