Does anyone out there know any mechanics in LA that will actually work on my bike, I just brought it back from Wisconsin and a complete carb overhaul now I am having some electrical problems.
If you have a little time, read the "Tech Tips" on the left side of the page. Look up "electrical" and you will see almost anyone can do the repairs needed.
Most of the "mechanics" that work on bike now are too young to remember the XS1100 when it was new. Most shops DO NOT want to work on bikes older than 10 years now! Best thing is to try and learn this yourself. You will know the bike, be able to fix almost anything as needed, and still out run and out cruise most new bikes.
The electrical problems with these are mostly due to the connectors getting corroded. If you pull the connectors off one at a time, clean the metal, put on some dielectric grease and put them back together, almost all your problems should "go away".
