Hey TonyJ,
Have you read the STICKY note at the top of the FORUM?! It tells you about how to do searches(Spelling helps), as well as about looking in the tech tips for all sorts of valuable information! However, I don't think we've talked about HOES much?
I realize that it might be a "little" bit of work to do so, vs. just dropping yet "another" thread asking about the routing of the vacuum hoses and then getting spoon fed the answer!
The answer is: Yes, from intakes 2 and 3 to petcocks vacuum nipples, not fuel nipples! The smaller metal port on the #2 carb body is where the vacuum advance hose connects to! The small hose from the Middle Gear tranny case is just vented to air under the tank, the large hose from the crankcase goes to the AirBox IF you still have one otherwise put a filter on it, or just drop it down in the holder of the frame/swingarm area; the 2 hoses from the UPPER carb bodies do go to the airbox also, make sure they are clear/venting and not clogged both at the "T's" at the carbs as well as the airbox!T. Hey tonyj, also be aware that the early carbs like those on your 'E have two "T" connectors between carbs #1 and 2, and between #3 and 4. The fuel hose from the petcocks must connect to the lower "T"s, not the upper ones. The upper "T"s connect to nipples on the upper half of the airbox to act as atmospheric vents for the float bowls.Ken Talbot

Hey TonyJ,
Don't sweat the spelling, was just razzin' you a bit.
Sorry for your loss! I lost my father in 2000, was the reason why I awoke Godzilla from it's 9 year slumber and put it back on the road! Best of luck with your endeavor. We are all here to help in any way we can!
Sorry if I came off a bit condenscending, been doing this for quite a while, and just occasionally get frustrated with the young newbies that just pop in and start asking questions without going thru the effort of reading the tech tips, and doing simple searches as recommended in the STICKY!
In the links section you'll find a reference for the official Yamaha Online Parts Catalog. If you'll go there, you can access exploded views of essentially every part/component for any year XS11, could help you in figuring out where things go, etc.!
Again, welcome to the land of Xsives, wish it was under better circumstances!
Humbly, T.C.T. C. Gresham
